The Archive. Puglia. Pt. II

The wedding day.

A meeting of traditions beneath ancient olive trees in southern Italy. Processions that could be heard long before they were seen. Layers of silk, embroidery and heirloom jewellery. Quiet moments before everything began, followed by an evening that seemed to stretch long after the sun had disappeared.

This is less about documenting a wedding, and more about preserving the atmosphere that surrounded it; the people, the landscape, the movement, the details that become memory.

I’m back inside the archive. I have been building the family’s coffee table art books recently, and it has reminded me just how much lived inside of these four days in Puglia.

So I am going to share it again.

Beginning with the Haldi.

Moments that felt less like a wedding and more like a family gathering.

The quiet exchanges. Children disappearing into the gardens. Flowers gathered by hand. Guests lost in conversation. A day that unfolded gently, one moment at a time.

ON: INTERLUDES

My work has never really been about photographing weddings.

Weddings are simply the setting.

What interests me is how people move through a space. The atmosphere of a place. The relationships between people. The feeling of a particular moment in time.

This is why I am drawn to interludes.

Not the milestones themselves, but the spaces around them.

The walk from one room to another.
The breath before everything begins.
The pause after.
The shift in energy as a day unfolds.

These moments are easy to overlook, yet they often reveal more about a celebration than the events themselves.

They provide context. Rhythm. Atmosphere.

They create the emotional texture of a day and a sense of time and place.

For me, these moments are not separate from the story.

They are the story.

The fragments that connect everything together.

A record of presence. Not performance. UNBD.
